A series of informal critical reviews aimed at building a photographic community, collaborating with one-another and sharing work.

Zinnia Collective is a photographic duo made up of artists Edward Brilliant and Emily June Smith, who run events, exhibitions, and workshops.

Zinnia Collective’s FREE Open Crit is a welcoming, community-focused photography event taking place monthly, in collaboration with @photobookcafe. Open to photographers of all ages and at any stage of their career, the session offers a series of informal, photo-based critical reviews designed to encourage discussion, collaboration, and the sharing of work within a supportive photographic community.

Participants are invited to bring printed work where possible, but this is not essentia, laptops are welcome so everyone can comfortably view and discuss each other’s projects. The emphasis is on openness, learning from one another, and building connections rather than formal critique.

Accessibility note: the basement gallery space does not have step-free access and requires descending 25 steps. Anyone with accessibility requirements is encouraged to email or DM the organisers in advance so they can offer support where possible.
