Concert which explores the relationship between the folk songs of Devon and Newfoundland.
Singer, storyteller, actor, writer, stepdancer, and teacher of traditional Newfoundland set and square dances.
He is perhaps best known for performing and recording many of the traditional songs of Newfoundland culture. He also composed the song "Wave Over Wave" with Janis Spence and founded the record label SingSong Inc.
Founders of Wren Music, Marilyn and Paul sing English folk songs: from the heart and for the head. They have been performing together since 1979 and still love sharing the stories of our ancestors, with close harmonies and sometimes instruments.
Together Jim and Marilyn & Paul have been exploring relationship between Devon folk songs and those found across the Atlantic Ocean, most notably in Newfoundland, since they first met in 1983, and they have revisited this theme regularly. The concert has toured to Derby, Hartlepool and Union Chapel London. As well as extensively across Devon, most recently as part of the Devon Newfoundland Story in 2017.
