Through the lens of our unique artistic practices we will guide you through a process of experimental investigation of the natural world, inspired by scientific and amateur naturalist techniques. Focusing on developing your creative process in an open-minded and inclusive environment, we will explore the space in which art and scientific investigation coexist together.
The workshop will begin on Gwbert beach to collect inspirational images and beach combing objects to work with. The group will then return to the nearby studios of Createspace Wales in Ferwig where you will be guided through a series of material and conceptual creative exercises and techniques. There will be magnifying lenses, projected digital USB microscopes, listening devices and a selection of resources such as amateur naturalist and wildlife reference books provided to aid in your exploration, as well as various drawing materials.
Tea and biscuits will be provided throughout the day. Please bring along your own packed lunch, we also recommend wearing sturdy shoes and a waterproof coat. If you have specific access needs please contact us to discuss what we can do to accommodate you. Please note there are steep steps down to Gwbert beach.
Participants will meet at The Cliff Hotel & Spa carpark. We encourage car-sharing where possible.
