Words as Seeds: Poetry workshop with Victoria Adwukei Bulley
21 January, 6:30–8:30 PM
£5, Concessions available
Join acclaimed poet Victoria Adukwei Bulley for a workshop exploring seeds –literal, metaphorical, ancestral– through a poetic and speculative lens. Drawing inspiration from Sojung Jun’s exhibition at The Showroom, I Do Nine-Tailed Fox and Octavia Butler’s Earthseed, we will consider the seed as a carrier of memory, survival, dispersal, and return. Using the image of the seed as a guide, participants will explore themes such as planetary upheaval, transformation, and resilience. Designed for writers of all levels, this workshop offers space for creative experimentation, reflection, and collective imagining.
Victoria Adukwei Bulley is an award-winning poet, writer, and artist whose work spans poetry, film, and interdisciplinary practice. She is the author of the critically acclaimed poetry collection Quiet, winner of the Rathbones Folio Prize for Poetry and shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize. Bulley is also the creator of the internationally recognised project Mother Tongues, which explores the politics of language and translation through poetry and film. Her work is known for its lyrical precision, intellectual depth, and attunement to Black feminist thought.
