In this workshop, we’ll do a blind herbal tea tasting and you’ll make your own teabags to take home with you.

Join us for our new series of 6 workshops looking at how we can use herbs in our day-to-day life to support our health and wellbeing. Each workshop will focus on a different way of preparing herbs. Over the course of the workshops, we’ll discuss lots of different plants – both wild and cultivated – looking into their medicinal qualities and traditional uses. At each session, you’ll make a different preparation to take home with you.The sessions are 45 minutes long, so perfect if you want to step away from work at lunch time to do something creative and relaxing. You can attend all 6 sessions (dates are Jan 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, Feb 5th and 12th), or book them individually.

  1. Herbal teas – we’ll do a blind herbal tea tasting, looking at the properties of different herbs we have growing in our garden. We’ll discuss how best to prepare a herbal tea, and you’ll make your own teabags to take home with you.
  2. Fire cider – the perfect winter immune tonic! Fire cider is a powerful concoction, used in many cultures around the world. We’ll discuss different variations of this popular remedy, and you’ll prepare your own jar of fire cider.
  3. Oxymel – we’ll discuss how to prepare this ‘food medicine’ and have an in-depth look at the qualities of particular herbs that can be included.
  4. Syrup – learn how to prepare a syrup, and make your own immune-boosting syrup to take home with you.
  5. Tinctures – learn how to make this concentrated herbal preparation.
  6. Sugar scrub – in this workshop, we’ll have a deep-dive into the properties and uses of lavender. Using lavender grown and dried at the project, we’ll make a beautifully scented sugar scrub for you to take home.

This workshop will take place in the Pavilion at Vine Road Rec.
