Get ready for growing season by making a structure for your peas, whilst learning a new skill

Learn how to bend, shape and fix coppiced willow into a useful structure for your veg patch.

Part of the series Seeds for Growth: walks, talks and workshops on nature reconnection.

Also known as a pea teepee, willow wigwam or obelisk, we'll be making a structure from willow that, depending on style, will be about a metre tall, ideal for climbing peas up or supporting flowers.

The willow is locally coppiced and we'll be using resourceful techniques to anchor and create the shape, along with a selection of upcycled materials to help us secure the structure.

The workshop will take place outside in the Chunk Community Garden behind Chunk cafe.

There will be a short grounding moment to start as we connect ourselves to nature and prepare ourselves for some potentially fiddly work.

I will teach you how to manipulate the willow and will go round helping and advising design and techniques.

Please dress for an outside winter workshop. We will be standing up to make these, although there is room for 4 participants to be seated on benches to make theirs if they wish.

All materials provided, no experience necessary.

Extra bundles of everything you need to make another wigwam at home will be available to purchase after the session.

Chunk cafe offers delicious vegan bakes, food and coffees; perfect for warming up during or after the session.
