Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society and Music for AWhile perform Handel's Messiah at the start of the Advent Season

Experience the Majesty of Handel’s Messiah
Join WCOS and Music for Awhile for an unforgettable evening as the resounding power of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah once again fills Wells Cathedral with its timeless beauty and triumph. Handel’s great oratorio was first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.Whether you are a lifelong admirer or discovering this work for the first time, Handel’s Messiah offers an experience like no other. Let the grandeur of the music, the brilliance of the voices, and the passion of the performance envelop you in a night of transcendent beauty. Reserve your seats today and be part of this moving celebration of art, faith, and joy.
