Waypoint Epic: 31km Challenge Hike Polegate to Seaford + Pub (Ages 20s-40s)

Waypoint is London’s close-knit, adventure-loving crew for like-minded legends (20's - 40's). Big hikes, belly laughs, post-walk pints - and pushing yourself a little further each time.

Think you’ve done the Seven Sisters? Think again.

This isn’t a casual stroll - it’s a full-on leg-burner with big views, wild trails, and a sunset finish you won’t forget.

We kick off at Polegate Station, pass the old windmill, and head into the wilds of Cranedown Bottom. A loop over Folkington Hill brings us across open fields to the iconic Long Man of Wilmington - 226 feet of chalk giant watching from the slopes.

Then it’s a steep haul up Windover Hill before we drop into Lullington for a well-earned picnic outside the Plough & Harrow.

Refuelled, we push through Friston Forest, skirt East Dean, and strike for the coast. We hit the Seven Sisters at Brass Point, with three solid climbs standing between us and our sunset target at Cuckmere Haven. Time to dig deep - the sunset won’t wait.

After 30 minutes soaking it all in on the beach, we switch on head torches and follow the quiet, dark Cuckmere River towards Seaford - every step feeling epic.

We finish at The Old Plough, Seaford, where we’ve got space reserved for drinks and a well-deserved toast to an unforgettable adventure.

🗓️ Event Details

• Date: Saturday 17th January 2026
• Meet: 8:35am, Polegate Station
• Start: 9:15am sharp
• Finish: The Old Plough, Seaford
• Distance: 31km / 19.3 miles
• Time: ~8.5 hours (includes 1.5 hours of breaks)
• Grade: Challenging – long, hilly, and exposed
• Route: Point-to-point
• Terrain: Rolling hills, chalky paths, likely muddy in winter
• Experience: Confident, fit hikers only. Must be comfortable walking all day in wet/windy conditions and prepared to hike the final stretch (~1.5 hrs) in darkness with a headtorch

• 8:35am – Meet at Polegate Station (coffee & snacks). Recommended train: Southern service from Clapham Junction 07:31 → Polegate 08:39.
• 9:15am – Hike begins! (Running late? Message the WhatsApp group.)
• 1:00pm – Picnic lunch outside The Plough & Harrow (bring your own food & snacks)
• 7:30pm – Finish at The Old Plough, Seaford — celebrate with well-earned drinks in our reserved area, and grab fish & chips for the train home.

• Breaks: 2 × 30-min breaks (Lullington & Cuckmere Haven Beach), 3 × 10-min short breaks as needed
• Toilets: Polegate Station café, Plough & Harrow, Seaford Station
• Shops & Cafés: Available at start & finish
