Sacred Conversations of Graton
by Broken Theatre - a youth documentary theater project brought to life by co-founders Brian Bryson and his teenage son, Gavin Bryson.
Sacred Conversations features youth actors bringing to life “golden moments” from interviews with local residents reenacted with all the emotion, nuance, and humor that real life holds. Drawn directly from the words of neighbors and elders, these stories weave together under the lights into a cohesive, multi-voiced performance that bridges generations and cultures.
Broken Theatre’s mission is to mend our broken connection with the land, each other, and ourselves. Youth performers don’t just tell stories - they carry them forward, holding space for memory and imagination to coexist. Each layer of Sacred Conversations becomes a shared dream woven through listening, reflection, and collaboration.
Voices of the Valley
A short community storytelling film. Watch a three minute Voices of the Valley trailer here
Voices of the Valley is a 20-minute mini-documentary by local artist Niko Kush honoring the memories and visions of elders from the Green Valley watershed including longtime residents, community icons, and cultural stewards. Through 4–5 in-depth interviews and vivid scenes from the region, the film becomes a time capsule of past and future, celebrating the people, stories, and landscape that shape this place.
The live performance and film are designed to delight imaginations and community hearth together, featuring shared participants and resonant themes.
Saturday, March 28 only
Following the Saturday evening performance, audience members are invited to stay for an abundant community potluck from 7:00–8:00 PM, creating space for informal conversation and reflection around the stories shared.
Bring a dish if you’re able - homemade gaily encouraged! Or simply bring yourself.
