Constantine Finehouse, Piano
Constantine Finehouse has performed extensively throughout the United States and internationally, with appearances in major cultural centers including Salzburg, Trieste, London, Ghent, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Odessa. His discography includes numerous critically acclaimed recordings, including Backwards Glance (2009), which interweaves works of Brahms and Richard Beaudoin.
His collaborative project The Bolcom Project, created with violinist Philip Ficsor, resulted in a two-CD Albany Records release and a national concert tour. The recording was praised by Fanfare as “indispensable to any serious collector with an interest in later 20th-century duo repertoire for violin and piano.”
Finehouse has been closely associated with the music of Pulitzer Prize–winning composer William Bolcom, including commissioning and premiering Bolcom’s Horn Trio and recording major works for Naxos. His latest album The Brahms Age on Hänssler Classic with violinist, Daniel Kurganov, follows their 2021 release Rhythm and the Borrowed Past on Orchid Classics and Between the Notes on Spice Classics in 2018. Settling Old Scores with cellist, Sebastian Bäverstam, duo's second release, features sonatas by Brahms and Shostakovich.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and Yale University, Finehouse has served on faculty at the New England Conservatory and as Visiting Artist/Faculty at Westmont College. He is widely respected for his intellectual depth, stylistic range, and commitment to both traditional and modern repertoire.
Tyler Michael James, Cello
Praised for his “soulful, lyrical tone” and “phenomenal color palette,” Tyler Michael James is an in-demand soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. He has performed with leading ensembles including the Tristan Trio, A Far Cry, Castle of Our Skins, and Fermata Chamber Soloists.
His performances have been presented by major institutions and venues including Rockport Music, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 92nd Street Y, the Peabody Institute, New York University, and the Bar Harbor Music Festival. He has also recorded at WGBH Studios.
A passionate advocate for new music, James has collaborated closely with leading composers and premiered major new works, including concertos and contemporary chamber repertoire. He has served as guest principal cellist with multiple orchestras and was featured as solo cellist on the National Tour of Miss Saigon.
James is deeply committed to education and currently serves on faculty at Boston String Academy, Project STEP, and Attacca School of Music.
