DSDC is an internationally recognised centre with the mission to improve lives for people living with a dementia. Based at the University of Stirling, DSDC uses research to inform practice, and practice to inform research providing comprehensive resources for anyone supporting someone living with a dementia, both personally and professionally.

When the Iris Murdoch Building opened, in 2002, it was the first dementia friendly public building in the UK, designed using the evidence-based dementia design principles. The tour will be hosted by a member of the DSDC team, and will include an overview to the building origins, public spaces and the Design & Technology Suite. The Design & Technology Suite comprises of three rooms: a bedroom with en-suite; a living / dining room with kitchen; and a hospital room with en-suite. The rooms showcase some of the dementia design principles in practice and a variety of assistive technologies which can be applied both in homes and care facilities.

Most tours last around 60 minutes, however there will be time at the end for networking / questions.
