About the Event

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

- Genesis 1:20-22

As God followers, we are called to care for all of creation from sky to sea. Dive into three films that explore the hidden beauty of our planet’s waters, the ecological threat they are facing and how communities are impacted by these issues.

These films reveal both the wonder and the wounds of marine life today, and calls us to reflect on our sacred responsibility to act and renew the seas.

Featured films:

Faith of a Fisherman: a documentary short from the Philippines on a pastor-fisherman and his story of faith

Born from the Reef: an award-winning film on whale sharks in the Galapagos

Team DIVERSe: a local film on Singapore's rising sea levels

Post-film dialogue

Join us for a post-screening dialogue after with Dr Karenne Tun, Group Director at the National Biodiversity Centre of the National Parks Board and Mr Stephen Beng, Head of ESG Strategy at Phillip Capital Management, where we explore topics such as:

  • What the ocean teaches us about our Creator
  • How we can care for marine ecosystems
  • What meaningful action looks like
