BAND BIO:
Founded by Jason E. Davies on the heels of the pandemic, The Social Contractors offer an upbeat blend of melodic original rock and classic covers from the 60s-90s. Jason’s tightly crafted tunes feature improvised solos with pointed lyrics that span edgy political and environmental themes to tales of unrequited love and introspection – all with an ultimately optimistic perspective on the possible.
Jason E. Davies began playing guitar in his early teens and performed in multiple Santa Cruz based bands including The Void, Sid Allen & The Devil's Den, and Fun With Colors f the 90s before launching a career in the music and audio technology industry. Jason double majored in Politics and Environmental Studies and graduated from UCSC with a bachelor's degree in Politics.
The pandemic provided the impetus for producing a pandemic themed song ("Social Contractor" - co-produced with Josh Golden), which ultimately led to founding The Social Contractors band. In addition to Jason E, Davies, the band’s current members and alternates include local “all stars” Travis Thayer of CozyCats and Blue Seven (sax/keys/vocals), Rob Neidel of the Hyperdrive Kittens (bass/vocals), Alex Fabian-Davies of Crooked Shoes (bass), Chris Oatman (drums) of The Receders, Nick Schneider (drums), Scott McKenzie (drums), and Robert Ramirez (drums).
