Come and enjoy the stunning surroundings of Soulton Hall for the opening of this vibrant collection of work by Shropshire Tropicalia artist Lucy Caddel, including the unveiling of her large-scale triptych commission for the Ashton family.
This new work celebrates the fascinating symbolism associated with the rich history of Soulton Hall, intertwined with Lucy’s signature use of ripe fruits, Latino colour palette and joyful, life-affirming imagery.
The Ashton family will be available throughout the event to take tours of the house, pointing out the connections to pomegranates, key historical aspects and social allegory contained in the building —how hidden patterns in architecture can comment on or represent human order and societal values.
Entry is free.
There will be a drinks reception with cash/card donations to the Shrewsbury & District Arts Association which supports arts outreach in the local community. For younger visitors there will be a pomander making decoration activity available (donations for materials).
Please note the exhibition is sited up stairs.
