The Hwb y Gors Community Mural Workshops

A vibrant new mosaic mural will soon brighten a wall at Hwb y Gors in Cwmgors, as we come together to celebrate the stories, history, and heart of the valley.

The story so far... During a series of design workshops in September, the community came together to create a fantastic mural design inspired by 1912, the year the building first opened as a school.The design features much-loved local historical landmarks such as the Woollen Mill, Cresci’s Ice Cream Shop, Cwmgors Colliery and Brickworks and other glimpses of life from that era. Now it’s time to bring this incredible design to life — and you can be part of it!

Mosaic Workshops

Help craft the large mosaic sections that will come together to form the final mural. Dani from Dani Lee Arts will lead these sessions, showing you everything you need to know to contribute to this amazing community artwork.

Tile-Making Workshops

Join us to create hand-shaped tiles that will become part of the mural. Jacky from Carmel Pottery will guide you through every step of the process.

These free Community Workshops are open to everyone aged 14 and over. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete beginner, you’ll find these sessions relaxed and welcoming.

What to Expect at a Workshop

• Fun, Friendly, and Free: No artistic skills or experience are necessary! Dani Lee and her team will guide you through every step of the process, helping you to create something truly special alongside your neighbours.
• All Materials Provided: Clay, mosaic materials and tools are all supplied.
• Join Anytime: Workshops will be running throughout this winter, so you can join whenever you’d like to.
• Make Lasting Memories: Be part of a project that celebrates local history and creativity and create a beautiful mural that will last for decades to come.
• Workshops held at: the new Hwb y Gors in Cwmgors SA18 1RF

Please book a maximum of 2 tickets per person for the Tile Making Workshops and a maximum of 5 tickets per person for the Mosaic Workshops. This is to allow more people to have a go. However, if you would like to come to more workshops then please email me dani@danileearts.co.uk and if there is space I will let you know.
