Based on a fictional high-stakes street race, the DeLeon is an all-or-nothing, pressure-packed competition played in two-person teams.
THE RACE BEFORE THE RACE.
In the morning, we'll kick things off with an 18-hole round of net fourball qualifying. Your team handicap will be determined by the better of the two players.
For lunch, a local BBQ truck will be parked near the clubhouse. The cost of food is not included in your entry fee.
BORN TO RUN, BABY. BORN TO RUN.
Things get serious in the afternoon. Based on the results from the morning, teams will be split into two elimination pools:
Each player must select four clubs to use in the afternoon: one driver/wood, one iron, one wedge, and one putter. They must also identify which one of these clubs they are putting "on the line" - this is the club that you are willing to give up, if your team is eliminated.
From there, everyone will compete in alternate-shot elimination against the rest of the teams in their Group - this time, straight up; no handicaps.
After each hole is completed, the highest-scoring team will be dropped from each Group; any ties will be broken in a closest-to-the-pin chip-off, determined by the Monarch.
Teams that drop out of Group A will fall back to Group B on the following hole(s); teams that drop out of Group B are eliminated, and must relinquish the clubs that they chose to put "on the line".
THIS IS GETTING GOOD.
At the end of elimination, the prize for the winning team (from Group A) is the clubs given up by players from the eliminated teams.
Players and teams who survive in Group B don't win or lose anything - they simply live to tell the tale.
WELCOME TO THE DELEON.
