💭 Bhante Kovida grew up on the tropical island of Jamaica, West Indies, of Chinese descent. He immigrated to Canada, studied for a science degree, then travelled overland from Europe to India and Nepal, where he began the study of Indian history and culture, Hatha Yoga, classical Indian music and Buddhism. After doing some social development work in Sri Lanka, Bhante Kovida took ordination with Venerable Balangoda Anandamaitreya, a noted scholar, teacher and meditation practitioner. Since then he has been travelling and teaching the Dharma in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, United Kingdom, New Zealand and across Canada.
