The Women Arts Exchange is a celebration of bold, innovative + powerful female creators in the visual and performing arts

Emily Cargill and Dancers is producing Jacksonville's FOURTH annual Women Arts Exchange on Friday and Saturday, March 6 + 7, 2026 in partnership with the Beaches Museum (VISION! Art Gallery) and Players by the Sea (MOVE! Dance Festival).

The Women Arts Exchange is an electrifying celebration where the worlds of visual art and contemporary dance collide in a bold, boundary-pushing artistic experience. The evening begins with a Sip 'n Stroll through a vibrant art gallery at the iconic Beaches Museum, and will feature stunning works by local trailblazing female visual artists. Following the art gallery, WAX goers will make their way to neighboring cultural anchor, Players by the Sea, for the MOVE! Dance Festival. This dance performance will feature a curated selection of female dance makers who are some of the most innovative choreographers working in the professional contemporary dance field today.

At WAX, we aim to spark collaboration + curiosity, foster community engagement and provide JAX with accessibility to innovative + bold artistic experiences. WAX will promote, highlight and feature bold and unique women artists in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas in the visual and performance art genres. Through this endeavor, Emily Cargill and Dancers strives to build community and camaraderie among women creators and encourage artistic collaborations in the future among participating artists. WAX will feature the wide array of professional female artists in Jacksonville and the surrounding southeastern region, who are inspired to be a part of a 'women supporting women' event. In short, a celebration of women in the arts!

This year we have 20 of THE MOST innovative and interesting local visual artists presenting their work at the Women Arts Exchange. These women's experience spans from emerging through professional artists, working in mediums of all types such as painting, sculpture, 3-D installation, photography, print work and ceramics. This year, 5 artists have been selected for a long term gallery installation at the iconic Beaches Museum, which will run throughout the month of March, and the opening gallery celebration happening on the Women Arts Exchange weekend. These month-long exhibitioners are Amanda Holloway, Anne Cullum, Kim Hurt, Balsam Abo Zour and Susanne Schuenke. 15 additional artists will represent the Jacksonville Art Community as the selected group of WAX Weekend Artists. That full artist list can be found on the WAX website.

Whether you have experience in, are curious about, or are passionate for contemporary dance, THIS is the dance event that you must mark on your calendar! This year, WAX has hand picked the most daring, unique, sophisticated, compelling dance artists working professionally in the Southeastern region. The chosen choreographers include Jacksonville-based Emily Cargill + Dancers, Theresa Jimmerson/Calima Dance and Jada la Faire Allen, as well as Xan Burley (NYC/Gainesville), Sami Coplon (Orlando/NYC), Jacqui Hinkson/Excavate Body (ATL), Bliss Kohlmyer (Tampa) and Andee Scott (TX). This curated selection of female dance makers are some of the most innovative choreographers working in contemporary dance - the performance will be jaw droppingly beautiful and full of wild abandon yet carefully crafted contemporary movement scores.

In between the two venues, more magic happens, as patrons will travel through the Beaches Museum Garden area and be met with a procession of live art, including monologues by Players by the Sea cast members and a live immersive art experience by local artistic visionaries Helena Acosta and Martha LLuch, escorting audience members from one venue to the next.

The 4th Annual Women Arts Exchange will be THE art event of the city so don't miss it.

You really will be sorry you did.
