Make a bas relief tiled mural, using additive and reductive sculpting techniques. We will be making our own textural tools, using found objects and engaging with locally sourced ceramic materials like iron oxide collected from tow path rust. Referencing books and printed sources we will dig out myths, symbols and folkloric designs for our tile set - but you can bring your own images too.
You’ll create a set totalling (no bigger than) roughly A3 size (think 6 standard tiles)- and fired to stoneware. This could be featured on an outdoor/ indoor wall, in wet spaces as a splash-back or mounted onto furniture.
The workshop is led by artist and teacher, Pina Pimpicka, as part of Esme's @bogbodyceramics clay programme at the ESEACC.
Please note: If you would like to keep work there is a £10 additional fee, which covers the (unrecycleable) material cost, the transportation of delicate works to my studio, glazing, the kiln firing cost, and the administrative work. Work is collectable from the ESEACC from the week beginning Feb 16th 2026. I can only keep work for 3 months until it will be disposed of due to limited storage.
