Join us for a vibrant day celebrating Palestinian culture, resilience, and solidarity. The NEU Sumud Festival for Palestine brings together artists, activists, educators and community members for a programme of inspiring talks, creative workshops and cultural activities.

This is a non-profit event, organised and sponsored by the London NEU International Solidarity Network. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Palestinian charities, including PalMusic (who support young musicians in Palestine) and Gaza Sunbirds (Gaza’s para-cycling team). We will hear more about both of these charities on the day.

The event is open to the everybody, but NEU members have access to discounted tickets and a voucher for a free, delicious Palestinian lunch.*

Featured panellists include Gaza-born artist Malak Mattar; Chair of PalMusic Wissam Boustany; author and co-founder of MAP Dr Swee Ang, playwright/ author Ahmed Masoud, Palestinian childhood specialist Dr Feryal Awan, and poetry by Hafiza Ibrahim, with more speakers to be announced. The event will also feature a stunning embroidery exhibition, called Stitch Their Names Together.

The political teach-ins feature contributions from organisers involved in a wide range of campaigns. We will hear from Disarm Education, Shake the Civ, Sumud Flotilla, White Kite Collective and other grassroots activists about how we can support and amplify the Palestinian cause.

Enjoy browsing the Palestinian artisanal stalls in our ‘souk’ area, photography, food, film, books, poetry, tatreez embroidery and more. A rich cultural and political festival you won’t want to miss!

* We will ask NEU members to tell us which district they are a member of, and this will be checked. (NEU members may also be able to apply for extra support to attend from their local districts.)
