Join us for strength training classes! These classes are designed for mid-life and older adults and include progressive resistance training.

The StrongPeople Strong Bodies program is based on years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of adults of all ages. Strength is a critical factor in living healthier, more active lives. This intermediate-level program will be led by Extension Agent and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist Patrick Zayas.


WHAT: 12-week resistance training class (Intermediate Class)

WHEN: Meet twice per week, Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00pm to 2:30pm from March 10, 2026 - May 28, 2026.

WHERE: UF/IFAS Extension Orange County, 6021 S. Conway Road, Orlando, FL 32812

COST: $30.00 per person. Registration covers cost for all 12 weeks.

We have two Strong Bodies program options available. This registration is for the intermediate-level program, which consists of 10 exercises. Participants will alternate between seated, standing, and lying positions.

Enrollment:

Enrollment is open to adults 18 years and older.

Pre-registration is required. A physician's authorization may be required.

There will be a required informational meeting on February 12, 2026, to discuss the parameters of the program.


Optional Evaluation:

Participants have the option to complete the Senior Fitness Test before and after the StrongBodies program to evaluate improvements in strength, flexibility, and balance. The Senior Fitness test consists of six exercises that measure functional fitness. The Senior Fitness Test takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. All willing participants 18 and older may complete the Senior Fitness Test.

There will be the opportunity to participate in a research study.
