Strategic Bikeways Plan - Ward 1 Public Workshop

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Strategic Bikeways Plan will define the District’s priorities for future transportation projects that enhance safety and serve bicyclists of all ages and abilities. The plan will guide the next update to the moveDC (2021) bicycle priority network by incorporating completed projects, community input, and other key factors. The goal is to support the development of a safe, connected, and comfortable bicycle network that meets the needs of all users, both now and in the future.

Planning Goals & Outcome

• Refine and Update - Refine and update the moveDC (2021) Bicycle Priority Network to determine DDOT’s focus over the next five years and inform modal priorities in the upcoming moveDC update.
• Identify Gaps and Missing Connections - Use data to identify gaps, missing connections and reflect community needs.
• Five-year Bicycle Work Plan - Develop a transparent five-year bicycle work plan.

DDOT invites you to a Ward 1 public workshop for the Strategic Bikeways Plan project. This in-person workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church. The project team will be presenting results from its evaluation of existing conditions and will be inviting community members and stakeholders to share feedback on the project team’s work to date, bicycle transportation needs, safety concerns, key gaps in the bicycle network, potential project ideas, and other local considerations.
