Steven Chelliah, is a Malaysian born American Guitarist, Composer and Vocalist based in NYC and is the inventor of the FuzAsian® Method, a system of modern jazz that explores the universe of Indian Scales (Ragas) as vehicles for chromatic and harmonic exploration in Jazz Improvisation.
In this Concert entitled FuzAsian Jazz Trio, Chelliah will be featuring select pieces from his upcoming album entitled ‘FuzAsian Jazz’, which will feature progressive Jazz and Fusion pieces employing the FuzAsian Method (Indian Scales) in the compositions, arrangements and guitar solos. These pieces will bring the listener on a journey of Eastern sonorities, dynamic rhythmic interplay between the band, and guitar virtuosity.
The FuzAsian Trio is a dynamic guitar led power trio (Guitar, Bass, and Drums), with Sean Hanon on Upright and Electric Bass and Rintaro Mikami on Drums. In this special pre-Thanksgiving show, Steven will also be throwing in a couple of original renditions of Jimi Hendrix classics, applying his original sound of the FuzAsian Method into the rock standards of Hendrix.
Here is a rising guitar star in the world of Jazz and Rock, packing with him original songs like 'Dreams of Yesterday’, 'Nothing Left To Give' and Double Flat Seven from his International Multi-Award Winning album FUZASIAN, that has won him 17 international awards.
Come out for a Friday night of dynamic and high intensity music and improvisation and let this Power-Trio take you on a sonic journey!
