🌟 We Are Not a Glum Lot: A Recovery Comedy Tour, stars LAURA HUGG and JIMMY CARRANE as they take kind, loving, and hilarious aim at 12-step culture and what it's like to be “in the rooms.”
ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
LAURA HUGG is a Chicago-based stand-up comedian, sketch and improv comedy performer, director and emcee. She has performed at clubs like Laugh Factory, Zanies, Second City, shows and festivals throughout the country, and currently hosts Keep Coming Back, a monthly comedy variety show about all forms of recovery, at the Lincoln Lodge and We Are Not A Glum Lot Recovery Comedy Tour coming to a theater or club near you! Laura is currently a stand up instructor at The Laughing Academy in Glenview IL, as well as host of their open mic at nearby Grandpa's Place. She is also a BABS Babe Improv Player at BABS Comedy Club in Forest Park IL, as well as one of their comedy instructors. She describes her comedy style as darkly optimistic.
JIMMY CARRANE has been teaching and performing comedy for over 30 years. An original member of The Annoyance Theater, Jazz Freddy, and Armando at iO Chicago, he created one of the first two-person improv shows, “Naked,” with Stephanie Weir. Host of the Improv Nerd podcast he has p[erformed on stages and festivals all over the United States and can be seen in “Shinning Girls” (Apple+), “Chicago PD,” Public Enemies, “The Playboy Club,” Natural Born Killers, The Untouchables, “ER,” and “Early Edition.”
MIKE PICKERL is a comic based out of Wheaton Illinois but can be seen performing all over The Midwest. He has performed at the Lincoln Lodge, The Comedy Vault, Zanies Rosemont, Zanies Chicago and The Comedy Bar. He jokes frankly about his struggles with addiction, depression, and everything in between.
JAQUELINE WOLK is a garden-variety neurotic and artsy-craftsy type; aging hipster, frugalista, and navel-gazer. Her repertoire, of as one reviewer puts it, “rampant dynamicism”, includes 25-plus years of history in Chicago’s performance arena doing poetry, spoken word, and original monologues. She is an ensemble member with the fabulous Beast Women Productions. When Jackie is not writing and performing, she is an odd-jobber and volunteer at-large who draws comics, knits, and drinks coffee. She advocates for chumps and for change on all fronts.
We Are Not A Glum Lot Comedy is available for your event, banquet, sponsorship potluck, group conscience or plain, ordinary, whoopee party!
