On this gentle two-hour foraging walk, we’ll slow down and explore the first edible greens of the year as they begin to stir in the woods.

Early March is a quiet turning point in Witton Country Park's woods.

\n

Join Shaun Roberts for this gentle two-hour foraging walk in Blackburn's largest park. We’ll slow down and explore the first edible greens of the year as they begin to stir, young nettles, cleavers, buds, and early shoots.

\n

Along the way we’ll talk about safe identification, traditional uses, and how foraging connects us more deeply to the land beneath our feet. This is an unhurried walk, rooted in observation and curiosity rather than filling baskets,  a chance to notice the subtle shift from winter to spring and leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and more at home in the woods.

\n

Shaun is a Blackburn-based tutor who is trained and experienced in Bushcraft techniques and has a love of all things wood; he creates bespoke furniture and runs woodworking workshops and courses.

\n

The walk will focus on the woodlands in Witton Country Park, which may be muddy with uneven ground, so please wear suitable footwear with good grip and warm and waterproof clothing.

\n

Please note that there is an afternoon walk on the same day (1 - 3pm) which will cover the same route.
