Leonard Bernstein’s "The Age of Anxiety," Symphony No. 2, is a piano and orchestra work inspired by W. H. Auden’s poem of the same name. The symphony explores post-war existential themes through jazz, lyricism, and variation, with the piano as a central voice. Premiered in 1949, it remains a vivid portrayal of inner struggle and hope.
SPM also marks the professional debut of violinists Takahiro Higuchi and Samuel Lee, performing Martinu's Concerto for Two Violins.
