Listen to the leaves.
Explore tea as a living presence – its leaves, its water, its warmth, and the ways humans have listened to it across time. We’ll spend the evening with tea not as a tasting and not as a lecture, but as a shared practice rooted in intention, curiosity, and quiet depth.
Together, we’ll savor tea, explore the cultural and folkloric histories carried in the leaves, and invoke the metaphysical qualities that have made tea a companion in spiritual practice. Tea has long been worked with alongside reflection, ritual, and insight, offering steadiness, clarity, awareness and presence.
The gathering includes a tea practice, guided by Teishu Mike, a certified tea sommelier and Taoist Tea Witch, artfully woven into the evening. You'll interact with several different teas, allowing space for observation, comparison, and personal response. There will be moments to handle the leaves, notice differences, and experience how tea shifts as attention and intention move. The experience is hands-on, creative, and unhurried.
You don’t need prior experience, belief, or a particular spiritual path to attend. Curiosity and a willingness to be present with the cup in your hands are enough.
SpiritualiTea is a monthly series devoted to quieter forms of spirituality – practices that unfold slowly, resist spectacle, and leave room for delight. Each gathering explores a different way of listening, with tea as the steady throughline.
SpiritualiTea meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
