Professor Nana Sato-Rossberg, Professor of Translation Studies

Lecture title: Why Translating Cultures? -The age of cultural conflict

Lecture abstract: It may be fair to say that this is the age of cultural conflict. We are facing the danger of World War III. Does the frequent use of mobile phones and the development of AI lead us to stop thinking deeply? This lecture will explore the importance of taking culture seriously.

Professor Julia Sallabank, Professor of Language Policy and Revitalisation

Lecture title: Language revitalisation and reclamation: theorising processes and ideologies

Lecture abstract: Diversity of all kinds is currently under threat, including the linguistic rights of minorities. This lecture looks at current trends and discourses, and examines ways in which communities worldwide are making links cross-linguistically and intersectionally, trying to preserve minoritised languages and cultures, and protect language rights.
