Creating Safe and Purposeful Groups

From Warm-Up to Trust

A group leader’s ability to build cohesion and create a safe environment in which group members can take the risk to be vulnerable is always an advantage.

The first step being to help group members connect with each other and find commonalities so that they feel safe enough to share. Group members become co-therapists as they share wisdom and provide glimmers of hope for each other.

From Warm-Up to Trust is an invitation to slow down and attend to the foundations that make meaningful group work possible. Together, we will explore how safety is not something we impose, but something we co-create—moment by moment—through presence, pacing, and relationship.

Why Action Methods

Action methods offer facilitators a fresh and exciting approach to running groups. Sociometric exercises provide powerful and engaging tools for uncovering commonalities and building connection.

Using action methods quickly creates a sense of connection and belonging, reduces fear of judgement and increases the willingness to share more openly.

This workshop will teach you how to:

  • Build a group using Sociometry, a Psychodrama tool, to deepen connections and promote inclusiveness within the group
  • Create Safety in group work
  • Use Warm-Ups that build up to a theme for psychoeducation

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for professionals who run or support groups and want practical, embodied tools to strengthen connection and engagement.

For those with no psychodrama experience, please attend an Open Session prior to attending this workshop.
