Skiing in Scotland: A life's story
Scottish steep skiing pioneer Martin Burrows-Smith in the 1980s was at the forefront of developing what was possible to ski on the steep slopes and gullies of the Scottish winter mountains. With notable first descents in the Cairngorms and on An Teallach, Creag Meagaidh and Ben Nevis, Martin will be reminiscing on these experiences whilst presenting his original photos from this time. Important to this story for Martin is where his influence originated, from family holidays as a child, to his passion for rock and alpine climbing that then spilled into the world of steep skiing in Scotland.
Once a former Spey Valley resident of many years, Martin is thrilled to be able to present his illustrated talk back in his old haunt of Kingussie at the Eleven41 Gallery.
