Join Friends of Nevis and step into the quiet world of lichens - those remarkable partnerships of fungi and algae that cloak rocks, trees, and soil. On this guided walk and talk, we’ll uncover their hidden beauty, learn how they thrive in Scotland’s landscapes, and explore their role as indicators of clean air and ancient ecosystems. Expect a mix of storytelling, science, and mindful observation as we slow down to notice the intricate details of these overlooked organisms.
The day will be led by local botanist, Ian Strachan, who has a wealth of knowledge on lichens to share - guaranteed to be a fascinating day out!
