Get ready to explore the depths of photography, capturing emotions and concepts like never before!

This course treats photography as a way of thinking and feeling, not simply recording. We approach image-making as a language for inner experience—closer to memory, poetry, and painting than documentation. Students are invited to look inward, using emotion, intuition, and concept as the starting point for visual work.
Through prompts, artist studies, critique, and experimentation, you will develop a personal visual voice and create images that ask questions, hold ambiguity, and carry meaning. Technical fundamentals—exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and basic editing—are woven gently into the process, serving expression rather than leading it.

By the end of the course, you will be able to shape photographs from emotional or conceptual seeds, work with abstraction and metaphor, and use your own inner life as creative material.

If you have a camera great, and if not, phone images are welcome.

The instructor, Bob Stevens, has had a long career shooting global ad campaigns, collaborated with major brands, and directed commercials and documentaries. You can see Bob’s advertising work at: www.bobstevens.com and his Fine Art images at www.bobstevensart.com.

Please bring images on a portable hard drive/thumb drive to share with the class. If that's not possible imaged can be e-mailed ot me in advance of the class.
