Scratch the Mayne

Bring yourselves along to ‘Scratch the Mayne’ on Friday 9th January, 7-11pm at The Castlemayne Pub.

For one night only Bas Arts Index will take over the Castlemayne pub with lively scratch performances. What is a scratch night? a place you can test out work in progress, at any stage, in front of an audience. For up to 15 minutes the floor is yours ! What kind of acts might this include? anything that can happen on a stage: spoken word, drama, acting, comedy, storytelling, poetry, performance art - we’re open to your ideas. Or come along to enjoy and support local artists.

Performers include: Emma Edmondson & Tim Burrows, Laura Newton, Aaron Shrimpton, Atom and the Frisk, Jeffrey Porter, Pick Yer Feet up and more.

The event is supported by Made In Essex, a dynamic new network dedicated to unifying and amplifying the voices of our county's vibrant, hyper-local creative communities like ours. Co founders of the network Marc and Julia will be sharing updates on the night about their vital work on 'Counting Culture' — a Greater Essex Cultural Manifesto. Discover what this means for us, how we can individually and collectively lend our support, contribute our insights, and get actively involved in shaping the future of culture in Essex.
