Established over twenty years ago, Saturday Art School is an enrichment program in the Visual Arts serving children K-12 in the Rochester Community. Saturday sessions are taught by advanced Art Education students seeking teacher certification.
This Spring's course offerings include:
2026 Big Idea: Adventure
Adventure: to go someplace new, different or unusual. When we go on adventures, small or large, with our bodies or our minds, we are brave; looking for new experiences that can shift and change our perspectives. We learn to embrace and pivot in the face of unknown outcomes and changes along the way. Adventure often begins with chance and brings on challenges navigated by skill, intelligence, and creativity.
Adventurous: to be willing to take risks and to try out new methods, ideas or experiences; full of excitement. An adventurous person is curious, bold, and faces challenges head-on. An adventurous artist is at home with the Studio Habits of Mind: Stretch and Explore and Engage and Persist; they are comfortable with uncertainty and bravely try out unfamiliar art supplies and techniques in order to express themselves.
