This course explores the fundamentals of 2D and 3D design, experimenting with adhesives, image transfers, sewing, and drawing.
This course explores the fundamentals of 2D and 3D design through the lens of collage and assemblage, experimenting with adhesives, image transfers, sewing, and drawing. Students will create works with a variety of mediums and techniques, focusing on form, color, texture. We will be exploring themes of sustainability and outsider art, as well as the social, political, and cultural contexts of materials. Projects will place an emphasis on the use and manipulation of found objects, bringing new meanings to these often overlooked items and giving them a second life in the form of an artwork.
