Rouge Park Winterfest 2026

There's so many exciting ways to have fun outside in winter- come to Rouge Park Winterfest and try something new!

Hosted by Friends of Rouge Park, this annual winter festival promises a fun-filled day for the whole family to enjoy a variety of winter-time fun, treats and activities on Detroit's premier west side park!

This event is FREE and OPEN TO ALL!

Lets make the most of these long winter months, find some warmth and joy in the sun, with. cup of hot chocolate! Warm up by the bonfire with smores or by sledding down the hill. You can even try some cross-country skiing! If the marsh freezes over we might even ice skate!

Supplies for skiies, snowshoes, and ice skating will be provided.

Highlights:

• Sledding! Bring your own sled, we'll have just a few.
• Ice Fishing Demonstration by Detroit's favorite fishing education organization: We Fixin to Fish
• Learn how to Snowshoe and Cross-Country Ski with experienced guides. Hint, its pretty easy once you have the right gear! Thank you Detroit Outdoors for bringing supplies for folks to use!
• Relay Races to win a prize! Coordinated with SOS Outreach Detroit
• Hot Chocolate
• Come learn how to build a fire at one of our bonfire pits to stay toasty at!
• Marshmallow Toasting and Smores by the fire!
• Ice Skating! if the marsh freezes enough. Don't worry we'll check before we let you loose on the ice.
• More games and activities! Stay tuned!

If you come dressed up in the right gear- gloves, hats, boots and coats- you'll be ready for the outdoor fun and we will help you enjoy the rest!

Admission is FREE for all ages, and the event will go on snow or no snow!
