Insights from experts on wellbeing in sensitive or emotionally challenging research plus workshops offering tools to care for wellbeing.

🌿 Researcher Wellbeing Symposium

📍 Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford

Welcome to the Researcher Wellbeing Symposium!

Researcher wellbeing is often overlooked, particularly among those working in sensitive or emotionally challenging fields. This one-day symposium is dedicated to supporting researchers working in sensitive or emotionally challenging areas.

The event will bring together scholars, practitioners, and support professionals from across disciplines to share research, practical strategies, and wellbeing-focused approaches. The day will move from theory to practice—beginning with presentations that explore current research and conceptual frameworks around researcher wellbeing, before transitioning into interactive sessions and hands-on workshops.

We’ll wrap up the day with a wine and canapé reception — a chance to relax, connect, and celebrate the incredible work of our research community!

Participants will gain insight into the emotional demands of sensitive research, explore trauma-informed and sustainable approaches to academic work, and leave equipped with tangible tools to foster resilience, care, and best practice in their own research environments.

This event builds on ongoing work at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) to develop meaningful, practical support for researcher wellbeing.
