Creative Futures is a free, three‑day Remake Learning Stainforth course for 16+ where you can mix and match workshops in fashion, music and media. It’s part of a bigger Learning for Life and Pathways to Work offer, so each session you book feeds into a wider journey of skill‑building, confidence and career exploration, with the option to see your work showcased in a live runway show at the end of the week.
Description:
Work with filmmaker and digital artist Wayne Sables to learn the basics of photography and film making while documenting the Creative Futures week. Using phones or digital cameras, you’ll capture behind‑the‑scenes moments, styled looks and practice runway walks, then explore simple ways to improve your shots.
Thursday 30th January - 1:00 – 3:00 @St Leger Hall, Stanley Road
You will:
This workshop is perfect if you enjoy visuals, social media or storytelling and would like to support the project by documenting it rather than being on the catwalk. All equipment can be provided, but feel free to bring your own phone or camera if you prefer.
Free to attend for ages 16+, no previous experience needed.
Friday – Show Day at the Resource Centre (Resource Centre) - Book separately
10:00 – 3:00 – Final Prep, Fashion Show & Exhibition
Morning: As above + Dress rehearsal, final styling, music checks and media set‑up
Afternoon: Live fashion show where participants’ outfits are modelled on the runway
This full day is a chance to bring everything together, celebrate what you’ve made and learned, and share your work with family, friends and the Stainforth community.
Information about creative courses, volunteering and job pathways will also be available, with links to Colleges and local businesses to help you explore your next steps.
Creative Futures is proudly supported by Remake Learning Days and the Pathways to Work initiative, with dedicated job club advisors and creative mentors on hand throughout the week to provide guided support, answer questions and help connect your new skills to real employment, volunteering or training opportunities.
It isn’t essential to attend every session, and you’re welcome to book for the times that work best for you. However, if you are able to commit to all three days (especially the Friday show), you’ll get the most benefit from seeing a full project through from start to finish. Please only book sessions you know you can attend and are of personal interest, so that spaces remain available for others in the Stainforth community.
