Reimagine the family portrait in the digital age

Join photographers and facilitators Kinga Krzyminska & Maciej Krzyminski for a hands-on, family-friendly workshop reimagining the classic family portrait.

We’ll start by co-building a giant “photo frame” from recyclable materials, then use it to create black-and-white portraits on traditional medium format film (the way it was done in the 1960s!).

We’ll also look at family albums and local archives to spark conversation about memory, identity and how we choose to be seen. Bring an album if you’d like - together we’ll “reframe” old images and make new ones.

All ages welcome; no experience needed. Materials provided.

Kinga Krzyminska & Maciej Krzyminski are socially engaged photographers, educators and co-founders of OPEN KAMERA CIC. Their practice blends analogue processes, phototherapy-informed methods and community storytelling to create honest, human portraits and spaces for connection. Together they lead workshops across Devon and Cornwall, exploring archives, family albums and sustainable darkroom techniques to help people see - and be seen - with care.
