Join us for RBC's November event as we explore Abi Millar's "The Spiritual Gap: Searching for Meaning in a Secular Age"

Welcome to the RBC Oxford where we'll be diving into November's theme, Spirituality: Looking inward in a world that constantly pulls us outward, through this month's read, Abi Millar's The Spiritual Gap: Searching for Meaning in a Secular Age.

More about The Spiritual Gap:

The Spirituality Gap follows Abi as she receives a shamanic healing, drinks ayuahuasca, delves into astrology, experiences an awakening in a lake, and attends an atheist church. Written with great warmth, curiosity and humour, it explores our post-religious world from the perspective of someone who is neither a 'spiritual but not religious' hippie nor an angry atheist. Throughout, she asks: how can we embrace ritual in our own lives even if we are wary of religion?

Why we chose it: “A personal, journalistic investigation into an eclectic range of spiritual practices which exist outside the domain of traditional religion” New Statesman

Delicious drinks are included, as well as engaging storytelling and space for conversations and sharing your own journeys across countries and continents.

Your host for the evening: Andie

Originally from Bilbao, Spain, Andie works in public relations for businesses in the renewable energy sector. In her free time, she's a voracious reader, book blogger and amateur runner. Having spent part of her 20s living in Baku and Moscow has made her drawn to Soviet history and she can't resist a good spy biography.

Andie believes that books are the answer to every question and there is no better tool to help us understand how the world and people work. She's leading RBC Oxford hoping to continue spreading the love for knowledge through a supportive and fun community that comes together for engaging conversations, growing a little with each book and discussion.

Andie's non-fiction recommendations:

1. Agent Sonya by Ben MacIntyre

2. Shoe Dog by Phil Knight

3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

This event is hosted by Gulp Fiction.
