Dive into the vibrant world of Puerto Rican Bomba in this three-part fall workshop series! Led by renowned instructor Sheila Brown, each session will focus on the rhythms, movement, improvisation (piquetes), and deep cultural history of Bomba.


Workshop Schedule & Focus:

• February 28: Sicá & Seis Corrido

• March 28: Holandés & Cuembé

• April 25: Review & Celebrate All Rhythms!


Each workshop features hands-on instruction, cultural context, and plenty of time to move, groove, and express yourself through Bomba’s powerful rhythms.


Who Should Attend:

All ages are welcome! No experience or partner needed. Perfect for dancers, musicians, and anyone interested in Afro-Puerto Rican culture.

90-minute workshop focused on specific Bomba rhythms

Dance technique, musicality, and improvisation

History and cultural context

Group and solo practice

Light snacks & refreshments

Sheila Brown is an Afro-Puerto Rican dancer with over 25 years of experience across styles from bomba and plena to salsa, ballet, tap, jazz, and beyond. She has trained with respected instructors in Puerto Rico and the U.S., and performed nationally with companies like Latin Vintage and Iroko. Today, she shares her passion by teaching salsa on2 and bomba, celebrating the rhythms, history, and Afro-diasporic roots that inspire her movement.
