ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world.

ASME B31.3 Code contains requirements for piping typically found in petroleum refineries; chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, paper, semiconductor, and cryogenic plants; and related processing plants and terminals. It covers materials and components, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, examination, inspection, and testing of piping.

The ASME B31.3 Code is widely referenced in standards such as API 570 (Piping Inspection Code), API RP 574 (Inspection Practices for Piping System Components), API RP 577 (Welding Processes, Inspection, and Metallurgy), **SS 512 (Code of Practice for the Design, Constructions and Operation of Pipeline Service Corridors), and others.

Chip ESKRIDGE is the Chairman of the ASME B31.3 committee, and B31 standards. He is also a Licensed Professional Engineer and ASME Fellow. Mr. Eskridge is a multi-disciplined Engineer with management/ supervisory experience in the chemical process, oil and gas, and power industries.He holds several professional certifications such as NACE Certified Corrosion Technologist, API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), 570 (Piping Inspector), 577 (Welding Inspection and Metallurgy), AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector).
