Portraiture Drawing and Mono Printing

Learn and develop your skills and confidence in portraiture using a range of media such as charcoal, pencil and graphite, working from reference images. You will experiment with mono printing using a

technique in which the inked-up plate is drawn into and partially wiped away, creating striking contrasts of light and dark (chiaroscuro) before printing your portraits.

The workshop will be taught in a step-by-step way with tutor advice and guidance.

What experience do I need?

This is a mixed ability workshop for complete beginners and those with some previous drawing and printmaking experience.

Chris Eastham is an accomplished portrait painter and printmaker. A member of Leeds Print Workshop since 2017, she has led numerous mono printmaking workshops and maintains a painting studio within the

same facility. In 2020, Chris participated successfully in the renowned television program, Sky Portrait Artist of the Year.

Originally from Leeds, Chris holds a degree in Fine Art and brings considerable experience as a facilitator in Art and Design.
