The UK’s leading port operator - Associated British Ports (ABP) – looks forward to welcoming you to this popular behind-the-scenes tour.

Supporting the Love Immingham event, the coach tour will delve into the huge scale operations that Keep Britain Trading, and the rest of the world connected.

The Port of Immingham is the largest port in the UK by volume of tonnage. Opening in 1912, Immingham is a significant trading gateway connecting Europe and beyond. Strategically located on the Humber - the UK’s busiest waterway - £75 billion of goods pass through the port each year. It supports around 12,000 jobs across the UK in areas such as marine, engineering, HR, logistics, property and operations.

You will be able to view various cargoes that are key in keeping the shops stocked, electricity flowing and families fed! The 1,230 acre estate is home to Immingham Container Terminal - with the £11.5 million, 60-metre high, gantry cranes. These mammoth cranes serve around 15 container ships every week. There are regular sailings to Holland, Denmark, Iceland and beyond and the containers house a variety of goods including furniture, food and toys.

Not only that, but the Port of Immingham is a key part of the energy supply chain serving major power stations in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The state-of-the-art rail load out facility can fill one train with 1,500 tonnes of wood pellets in just 40 minutes – this will light 85 homes for one whole year!

It's also home to the world's largest hydraulic crane, the Mantsinen 300M.

Join your guide on ABP's coach tour to see this and more at the Port of Immingham.

We're also delighted to support Immingham Museum on the day.

At Immingham Museum you can learn more about the development of the port and its historic links to the Pilgrim Fathers; while here why not visit the last remaining tin house from the days when Tin Town provided the accommodation for those who built the port. At The County Hotel, built to serve the port, you can find out more about the Second World War naval connections.
