📝 What Happens at a Poets in Putney - Poetry Open Mic Night?

Every open mic is a little different, but Poets in Putney is all about being relaxed, informal, and inclusive.

Whether you're an amateur, a professional, or just poetry-curious, you're welcome here. You can book a ticket as a performer or an audience member - either way, we’d love to have you.

I’ll host the evening and call up all registered performers one by one for their slot. If there's time at the end, we’ll invite anyone from the audience who wants to give it a go.

🎙️ Performing

  • You’ll have up to 5 minutes to share your poems.
  • You’re welcome to read from paper, your phone, or recite from memory.
  • There’s no theme – just bring your words, your voice, and your heart.
  • There is no set order, but if you have a preference for performing at a set time email poetsinputney@gmail.com or let us know when you check-in on the night.

⚠️ Content Warnings

This is an open mic, so poetry may range from funny and romantic to powerful and raw. Some performances may include emotionally sensitive topics such as:

Grief, trauma, mental health, discrimination, violence, abuse, or identity-based experiences.

Performers will be encouraged to provide content warnings when needed. If at any point you’d like to step out, you’re free to do so.

😅 Not Feeling Brave?

That’s totally fine. Buy an audience member ticket and soak up the vibes. If you feel inspired on the night, we’ll offer a few end-of-show slots for anyone who didn’t sign up but wants to share a piece.

(I’ve been there myself — just watching others can help give you the confidence you need.)

Library Opening Hours

Please note that the Library closes at 8pm, so you will not be able to enter after this time.

On the night please enter via the main Library entrance. You will exit from a different door after the show.

♿ Accessibility

Putney Library is wheelchair accessible via the main entrance on Disraeli Road. The Hall is located on the ground floor with step-free access throughout. There are accessible toilets, and seating is provided for all guests.

For the benefit of neurodivergent attendees, space will be calm, welcoming, and low-stimulation, with no flashing lights or loud music.

If you have specific access needs or questions, just get in touch — I’ll do my best to support you.

Looking forward to it!

We can’t wait to welcome you. Whether you're here to speak, listen, or just soak up the creative energy — this space is for you.
