Get ready for a truly immersive dive into experimental photography!
This unique, multi-station experience begins with a short guided introduction to each segment. After that, you’re free to roam, experiment, create and play in a safe, supportive environment.
Led by expert practitioners, this fully loaded event blends science, art, history and hands-on creativity. You’ll explore how light, time and motion shape images, experimenting with a range of photographic techniques along the way. By the end, you’ll have stepped into multiple roles — photographer, camera-maker and print-maker — and you’ll leave with both physical creations to take home and digital images to share.
No experience required — just bring your curiosity. Perfect for curious beginners and creative explorers alike.
What We'll Do
Arrange leaves, objects or trinkets on light-sensitive paper, expose them to sunlight or UV, and watch the colours emerge. We can digitise your creations and send them to you.
Keep your originals, or donate them to our Wall of Glory so others can admire your work too.
Learn how to use the Bulb Mode / Manual settings on the camera, as well as ISO and other camera settings.
Light painting is a great method to learn how the camera captures light while allowing the person to physically paint the subject with hand-held light. Subject: still life, and portraits. It also offers a fun way to explore movement, opening many creative possibilities in image making.
Turn everyday items into surreal artworks using a dedicated scanner. Play with movement, layering and glitches to create unexpected images.
What's Included
All materials (paper, objects, canisters, scanners, etc.), guidance from assistants, take-home cameras and prints, plus emailed digital scans.
