The Wake
Six former West Riding high school students meet up for the first time in 30 years to attempt the 40-mile Lyke Wake Walk across the North York Moors. Their lives and a secret unfold in this 40-minute drama written for radio. Who is the sixth member of the group? (Run time 45 minutes)
The Accident
A car is in a ditch. The driver is unconscious. The four passengers all give very different accounts of what happened to the police officers who attend the scene. Who’s telling lies and why? It’s a thriller that keeps you guessing and a twist that we all love, we hope you do too. (Run time 35 minutes)
Aberford Authors Drama Collective started in September 2025 when a writing exercise to come up with possible ideas for radio dramas to be performed at Chapel FM’s Writing On Air Festival 2026 yielded two ideas from a meeting of Aberford Authors. Eight members then came together to discuss the ideas and begin formulating the plays. The Wake and The Accident were both written by December 2025 – and were performed for the first time at Writing On Air Festival in February.
