This year’s Patron Lecture explores how thoughtful design can reshape everyday spaces support imagination, and ignite creativity.

Patron's Lecture

Tuesday 17 March

6-7pm

RSA House and online via YouTube

Nature is not just our home but our very design, and when we’re separated from it the impact is profound. Today, many children across the UK grow up without meaningful contact with nature, particularly in cities, and most sharply in communities facing disadvantage. That absence truly matters. We know that time outdoors shapes creativity, wellbeing, and helps children develop a lasting sense of care for the world they inhabit.

This year’s Patron’s Spring Lecture embraces the challenge and looks to the future. Opened by HRH The Princess Royal, the evening features a keynote address from RDI Keeper and acclaimed landscape architect Jo Gibbons on “Nature and the Next Generation” and the powerful concept of ‘entanglement’, alongside an introduction to the RSA and RDI relationship from RDI Dinah Casson – the brilliant interior designer. They will explore how thoughtful design can reshape everyday spaces to support imagination, and how entwining with nature can transform perspectives and ignite creativity.

All attendees will need to be seated in the Great Room by 5.30pm to allow for royal protocol.
