Story Tweedie-Yates is a seasoned marketing leader who specialises in helping B2B and IT Security start-ups define, refine and communicate their value clearly. She combines a sharp analytical mindset with a deep understanding of human behaviour, allowing her to translate complex technologies into compelling stories that resonate with the right audiences.
With over a decade of experience leading marketing and product teams for some of the world’s most recognised cybersecurity brands, Story’s expertise spans strategic positioning, product marketing, and growth-driven storytelling. Most recently, as Chief Marketing Officer at FusionAuth, she delivered record-breaking results by refining the company’s positioning, elevating brand awareness, and generating the highest number of new opportunities in company history within just three quarters.
Before that, she held senior leadership roles at RAD Security and Aqua Security, where she built and scaled global product marketing functions, introduced powerful new go-to-market narratives, and drove recognition at major industry events including RSA and BlackHat. Her earlier experience at Cisco and Auth0 further solidified her reputation as a creative yet data-driven marketer, known for shaping product stories that cut through market noise and influence at every level of an organisation.
Story’s approach is both global and grounded. Having worked across more than 30 countries and fluently in Spanish, she brings an international lens to every project she touches. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Stanford University and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, a blend that fuels her strategic and empathetic approach to leadership and communication.
Outside of her corporate work, Story is also a published children’s author and a former professional athlete, having competed on the WTA and ITF tennis circuits, reaching world rankings of 316 in singles and 189 in doubles. Her early experiences in sport and competition continue to shape her professional ethos - resilience, focus and performance under pressure.
Today, through her consultancy, Story Positioning, she partners with founders, CMOs and revenue leaders to help them find clarity, confidence and consistency in their messaging - so their products speak for themselves.
Story's Talk:
How to build a product the Sales team can sell: The Positioning Hypothesis
Story will be showing us what she has used in Product Marketing to navigate between Product and Sales in the process of finding product-market fit within startups that are Series A-E.
It's a short positioning model, it's actionable, and works amazingly with Sales teams. It can align teams all the way from their pitch materials to the roadmap.
Anybody listening could use the hypothesis right after the session using ChatGPT (or any regular AI model available online).
