
The cast and creatives of Oxford Road invite you along for a preview of the show. The play is based on a novel by Reading author Derek Walsh and has been adapted for the stage by Caversham based playwright, Brian Ennion. It follows the story of its chief protagonist, Alastair, as he embarks on a quest to achieve contentment and confront his peronal demons, including depression and substance abuse.
Along the way, Alastair encounters the enigmatic Dave, a character whose true nature is obscure, but who becomes instrumental in Alastair's journey.
The production team have selected five scenes for this preview event. These will be followed by a Q&A with cast and creatives. Attendees will also be invited to give feedback on the show via a survey.
The scenes contain sexual references and allusions to substance abuse.
Before the showing of the scenes, there will be a short talk from a representative of GRAFT, a local charity who help neurodiverse people and people with other mental health problems to get into paid employment.
There will also be an introduction from Derek Walsh, the novelist behind Oxford Road.
Refreshments will be available for the audience.
